What the... ::confused::

Seriously, mesa write a lot here, but nothing now?

Anyhoo, i did put out several scenarios and a rather big rant, but...i'll say it again. *Ahem.*

About characters and plotlines, has a character ever suffered or gained anything when a situation develops, not from a purposeful plot, nor a long-running idea, but off the mark? Randomly? Like, for instance, being bitten by a vampire, there's no real cure for it and the vampirism changes a character, style of play and exactly how you act out the characters own actions, wants desires and difficulties.

Have you ever had a character that had been in a situation or circumstance where the character's abilities or skills didn't quite make said problem favourable to them? Or in a stalemate in a battle between another character? Where both combatants are beaten enough to be unreckonisible but none would give? Would one resort or try to inflict auto hits to speed the fight up?

Has there been any long-term weaknesses or streangths on any character that to do with un-forseen circumstances, and kept? For good or bad?

Has any character you ever played as fallen ill to a trap and suffered due to their own, off-the-books weakness or misjudgement not designed for any plotline?

Again with vampirism, has any character been bitten by one or was and bit somebody elses due to what the characters did and not what you wanted?

I'm talking about how difficult or easy it might be to stay within the character's personality, despite any situation that might or might not push you to go out on a limb to help them? Such as finding that one needed item just suddenly, to quickly advance a story, instead of going without?

I'm talking about improvisation and playing by what the character wants and not the player. Have at it and dicuss what you think!

Personally I've had my characters play part in a lot of those kinds of things. But the only reason my character acts realistically is because, I think of myself in that mindset. In that personality and everything and I think: 'What would I do if...' It usually works very, very well. Even when I'm writing about Reeve Ackart. I usually do that- As he is based loosely from me.

Either way. I'd say this is a nice little discussion to have.

By the way, on a note with the reviews I've given some of you lately: I won't play favourites. After all, one of my dreams is to become an English Prof. And maybe, I HOPE to become a successful novelist. ^_^;;
So, yeah. My opinions are really there just to help you.

*raises a hand* I've had a character have that happen. It was in an old vampire rp on another site, he fell for clan leader and it totally changed his personality. I tend to dive in deep with my characters, because my characters are all a real part of me. So if something I deem important happens, I can totally change their personality.

Apoc, if you ever sell a book, make sure to tell us all.
I'm so gonna buy it ::smile::

About this disscusion,
I think that in the beginning you got a bit of an idea what you want for you're char so that you do not want others to intervere. If you're char got beaten up you let it go on, even if he has become the cousin of 'Nearly Headless Nick' from Harry Potter. That isn't really realistic and any normal char would die but since the writter doens't want that he activates some secret hidden power and heals the char in an instant :P

After reading this myself I actualy start to feel srry for RPG chars. They get beaten up like hell and still the writer tells them to go on. ::mad::

Yeah, you should read my book Bloodlines... Only thing that pushes Reeve on is the fact he wants freedom, and that he has his friend.

Oh, and Nick. You'll LOVE Bloodlines... LOTS of military! (Courtesy of my co-author) and... If anyone's ever read Rainbow Six... You'll like Sway Nek'rien.. He's... A God. In my eyes now: EVERY BOOK needs a Nek'rien. ^_^ (My co-author is a genius, but I'm a God. >>;)
