There's a deadline (1/31) approaching on a writing fellowship at the University of East Anglia, which you could say is the Iowa of the UK (or vice versa).   It's called the Charles Pick Fellowship and gives you about $20,000, office space, a mentor, a computer, and required attendance at seminars.  Here's the url:
