Reviewing each others writings

I have found reviews to be "too nice".  When being reviewed I'd like to hear brutally honest feedback. I feel that to grow as a writer I need open critic, and comments from people. I think you can do this without being rude, or obnoxious!  What do others think about this?

agreed.  One of my problems as a reviewer is that i hate being "not nice" if you know what i mean.  I would however appreciate honest, constructive feedback on my work, even if its negative!

I give honest feedback, and I find that my review score here suffers because of it. Not that I care, of course, because I already earned my badge and have no hope of repairing it. I love honest feedback. Most good authors know that they're not perfect. How else will we improve if we keep making the same mistakes? The point of reviewing is to help each other, not flatter. Flattery should be left to private messaging and MySpace. This is a writers' haven! Excellent point ole chap!
