Reviewing - isn't that what it is all about?

I have joined a few writing sites over the past few years, in the hope of receiving some reviews.  However, I have discovered that this is as far from easy.  The whole point of joining a writing site is to give and receive reviews.  Whilst I have found it easy to give reviews, enjoying reading people's work as I do, I have yet to receive any reviews for any of my work, on any of the sites I have joined.  However, from looking at other people's work, I realise that I am not alone.  On here, I have read work, which has been published for over two years, yet the writer has received no reviews.  How disheartening this is.  Whilst we all want reviews for our own work, it seems few of us are prepared to review the work of others.  What a lost opportunity this is.  Even in this 100% Review group, there seems little response for the various pieces of work published here.  Without reviews, writers are not going to be able to gain an understanding of the quality of their work and how it might be improved.  I am beginning to wonder if writing sites are worth it.  To constantly be creating work, only for it to go completely ignored gives the impression that these sites are not all they promise to be.

This is true. I give a lot of reviews, but receive only very few. Honestly that's why I review so much and work so hard toward being atop reviewer, so the people in my situation at last get some good, meaningful feedback.
