About Me
George Kastrounis is a Greek-American English and Drama teacher, born in Alexandria, Egypt. Due to his father’s occupation as a diplomat for the United Nations he had the opportunity to travel extensively—in Africa, the Middle East, Europe and most recently in the United States. As a student abroad he studied Economics at Kingston University in London where in 1979 he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree. He continued his studies at the graduate level and in 1981 received his Master’s degree in Economics from the London School of Economics and the New School for Social Research in New York. However, his love for the theater prompted him to study drama (acting and directing) at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. He pursued further studies in drama at North Dakota State University, where he graduated with a Master’s degree in Theater Arts. Apart from acting and directing he enjoys writing poetry, short stories and primarily plays. He has written numerous plays which have been produced by a number of university drama clubs both in the U.S. and in Greece. Currently, he lives in Athens, Greece where, as of 1992, he owns and operates a Foreign Language Institute as well as a Theater Workshop (“The Amphitheater”) for children as well as adults. Every year in June numerous plays from the international repertoire as well as his own are produced in Athens.
