Erik,
Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you. You kept me sane for that first hour, and on the right track. You are a Godsend. Kasia'a a lucky woman.
Unless you are Dickinson, Whitman, Bukowski, yeats, cummings, Dylan thomas, angelou, langston Hughes, william carlos williams, pinero, nikole blackman, or frost, what could I get from you having read their work. I know many people who have studied all these writers who cannot write a word of poetry(myself being one actually), and some amazing writers who who haven't had an opportunity to be exposed to them. By your own argument, half of the above artists should not be read because they never read the other half. Sorry, I'm not trying at all to be mean, but I just find it ironic that you berate people for caring about the points system on this site, and yet you turn around and rate their merit by who they happened to read.
i am not berating anyone, nor am i basing anyones poetic merit on who theyve read. I simply do not want people trying to tell me what to do or what to change when they have no grasp on even the basic rhuedementary elements of poetry. If you want to try to argue that the point i make is invalid, at least try to understand what the point is. I know some great poets who have yet to read yeats, thomas, and some other great writers... but if people on here are trying to critique the work of others, they should educate themselves. there is no excuse for ignorance. I never once aid they had to be a great writer themself for me to respect their opinions. Just to have some knowledge in the field. Im sorry you disagree, and from now on, i'd appreciate if you tried to understand a point i was making before trying to rebut it.
