About Me
My name is Emma, i have been writing poetry since i was a young girl. I am also in the process of writing a novel. This is a complete different dicipline and i am finding it hard but will not give up. I love nature especially birds and alot of my writing is inspired by our glorious and unfortunately endangered planet.
When i was a little girl, i used to spend the summer holidays at my grandparents house in kent, it was a different world to where i lived my daily life. One morning i was awoken by the sound of a bird.. i had probably heard it before but had took no notice, i asked my grandad what kind of bird it was. My grandad grabbed his binochulars and took me outside. He then located the bird and focused his binochulars so the bird was in view.... when i looked and saw the bird i remember my grandad telling me it was a collered dove. Ever since that day i have been obbsessed with wildlife and the humble collered dove will always have a special place in my heart.
I will always be gratefull to my grandad for introducing me to the wonderul pleasures of our planet.
We can all learn so much from our environment if only we would slow down and take the time to see what is around us. Beauty, survival, sadness, happines, drama, love, music, brutality, tenderness and life.
My poetry is simple, i dont use complicated words, i dont try to be clever because i,m not, i dont try to shock or confuse.... i simply write for people to understand.... But what is understanding?? my poetry might not reach everyone... we all have our own interpretations of words, individuality is what makes us all unique..... i love that about us.
