About MeWelcome to my page everyone!
My name is Darren and I'm a student of English Literature also training to be a teacher. I'm a huge fan of poetry, both reading and writing it, and very fond in particular of English Romantic poetry by the likes of Keats, Blake and Wordsworth. About my own work; I like to experiment with form and rhythm and try to challenge myself with each new piece that I write. I try not to get too caught up in one particular area or genre, but I think most of the themes that I explore (both fictional and non-fictional) are those of political/religious ideology and satire, disillusionment (in particular the theme of 'British-ness'), memory, loss, the love of nature versus the evolving world and the internalised gothic. Occasionally I will indulge in lyrical rhyme and if nothing obviously poetic captures my imagination-I'll go for the gross-out, I'm not proud! I hope you enjoy reading my work, I know I'll certainly look forward to reading yours. Thanks for stopping by! Darren **Important** Some people may find some of my work abrupt, controversial or offensive. This is not a deliberate attempt at opportunism or exploiting prejudice but merely the ramblings of a poet who enjoys challenging difficult boundaries (social, religious, political etc), in order to try and see the world from many different perspectives and not just through rose-tinted glasses, in a world of butterflies and fairies.
