About Me

David Santiago is a versatile tenor whose repertoire ranges from Bel Canto to Verismo. With a theatrical background from HB Studio, and a graduate of Mannes College of Music, he has performed under the baton of Maestro George Manahan in the Emmy Award winning production of La Boheme “Live from Lincoln Center”. While at New York City Opera, David also performed with Maestro Joseph Colaneri.

David has sung Don Jose in both Bizet’s Carmen and Peter Brook’s La Tragedie de Carmen. He was cast as Nemorino in L’Elisir d’Amore and The Messenger in Aida with Amato Opera. Other roles include Alfred in Die Fledermaus, Ferrando in Cosi Fan Tutte, Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor, Little Bat in Susanna, Alfredo in La Traviata, Fritz in L’amico Fritz and Max in Der Freishutz.

Most recently, David made his debut with the Bravo Alliance of Performing Artists in a concert entitled “Travelogue: Eastern Europe” featuring works by Eastern European composers. An avid recitalist, he has performed a variety of works, which have included Benjamin Britten’s Folk Songs of the British Isles and Richard Strauss’s 6 Lieder aus “Lotosblatter”. His passion for the Italian repertoire has led David to perform Donizetti’s Composizioni da Camera, Bellini’s Tre ariette and Sei ariette as well as programs which included compositions by Respighi, Pergolesi, Caldara and Tosti. In addition David has also sung a program which focused primarily on songs by Russian composers Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky.

David is currently preparing the roles of Lensky in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, Don Ottavio in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Tonio in Donizetti’s La fille du Regiment and Percy in Donizetti’s Anna Bolena. In addition to expanding his operatic roles, David is feeling a sense of pride and nostalgia in his Spanish heritage as he broadens his repertoire to include Zarzuela. These include, El Barberillo de lavapies by Francisco Asenjo Barbieri, as well as, La verbena de la paloma and La Dolores by Tomas Breton.
