Defintion and ExamplesA Lesson by Harley SapphireWhat is theme? Lets start with an introduction.Definition: the major idea/ message behind a piece of writing, that is directly or indirectly told. Incorporating theme into your work, to me, is one of the most important parts. Sometimes its nice to just tell a story that comes to your mind. Other times it is even better if you can make an impact with your words, make a change for the better. By incorporating a theme into your work, not only do you make it more relatable to the reader, but you also send a message. Okay, I won't go on too much in this first lesson, but I will outline what you can expect from this course. 1. Reviewing books like Catcher in the Rye, Pride and Prejudice and more! 2. Looking at these books, and other stories and finding how theme is woven in. 3. Learning how to weave in theme into your own stories. Assignment: Choose your favorite theme from down below, or add another theme that you feel is important to address. In the comments, write an example of a book, movie, play or other work in which this theme is addressed. Then think about how you can add meaning behind your work, or more meaning and share down below. Common Themes:
