ONE: You don’t need anyone’s permission to writeA Lesson by Carrie Ann GoldenYou don't need anyone's permission to write! If you want to write, write! You don’t need permission from your significant other, family members, friends, co-workers, or anyone to do this. There are so many would-be-writers that wait for a sign that it’s okay to write.
So, what’s holding you back?
Here are some common reasons why would-be-writers wait: · * Life’s too busy · * We’re too scared · * Insecurities · * Our belief that we don’t have anything of value to offer · * Fear of failure
Do you know what?
Every single writer have these same
challenges! Even the most successful ones! Stephen King. JK Rowling. Nora Roberts. Stephenie Meyer.
You are NOT alone! If these authors have waited for permission, we would probably never had: - Carrie or The Green Mile by Stephen King - Harry Potter series by JK Rowling - Or the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer
Your Assignment: Sit down and make a list of things you believe are holding you back. Be honest with yourself. Is it because you’re juggling with a career and a family? Or, is it because you don’t think you’ll ever be good enough?
Review what you’ve written.
Under each reason, list the one why you should write anyway.
- * I’m too busy, but I will make time to write anyway (waking up earlier or staying up a little later to write, or jotting a few words down in between the busyness of work, etc.)
- * My writing sucks so why would anyone want to read my stuff, but I will write for the reader in me.
As you do this assignment, you will realize that you don’t need anyone else’s permission to write, or you don’t have to allow certain aspects of life to hold you back. Everything begins with YOU.
By doing the above assignment, you have given yourself permission to do what you love.
So, what are you waiting for?
