About Me

I've been writing since I was thirteen years old, but dreaming about it since I could hold up a pencil and locate the nearest blank wall. I remember I used to scribble on napkins at parties, on menus in restaurants, and in every notebook I carried with me to school. An avid reader as well, my mom signed me up for the Reader's Weekly Book Club when I was just five. I would devour the books the same day they arrived, and spent the rest of the week analyzing them. Throughout my schooling years, my friends called me "book girl".

In my early teens, I discovered the music in words and threw myself into poetry--something I also became known for throughout my time in school. I've written personalized poems for just about everyone I know, and in most cases, being a computer fanatic, framed the poems with a photo background related to the people I wrote the poems for.

In my later teens, I began writing scenes--a venture that carried me into adulthood until I finally fed my desire to finally try my hand at writing a novel. My first attempt didn't exactly go off without a hitch, but I learned from that experience. In 2003, I began working on "DAVID THORNE: The Golithian Orbs", an edgy tween fantasy...the first in a series about David Thorne and his search for someone very important, his unmasking of a dangerous man bent of destruction, and the birth of one of Elder City's greatest heroes.

Visit my blog at www.clfreire.blogspot.com to follow my journey and take a little pleasure in my daily rants on life, people and the stupid things they do that annoy me.

As for what I've done so far, well, I've written the first in my Thorne series, and the second one is nearing completion. I'm also currently working on a YA urban fantasy trilogy. I've been interviewed on many websites, and, I've also appeared on numerous BlogTalk Radio shows, the first of which was the highest rated show for the month of May 08'.

I currently reside with my husband of 22 years. My greatest hope in life is to touch people with my writing, to inspire, and evoke thought and creativity in others...oh, and to be a best selling author who lives in NYC...that's a BIG one.

Writing is my greatest passion, next to my husband. I love laughing, talking to people with varied interests, traveling, reading, gaming, movies, cooking, and TV. The list can go on forever really. I don't like creepers, which includes anything non-mammalian or birds. I have no tolerance for phony people, or those with "agendas". I am vehemently against hunting in any form, as I don't see "killing a defenseless animal" a sport or even remotely "manly". I don't associate myself with anyone who tries to make others believe as they do under the notion that any one person's views are the only right ones. I don't judge people, as I am no one to judge. I love cities, dark stormy nights, and gritty movies, preferably with a noirish atmosphere. Atmosphere is a big thing for me. I love music that drips with it, and movies that exude atmosphere with every word spoken, and every scene shot. I've got a really cool myspace page over at: myspace.com/clfreire. And then there's my other blog, reserved for everything revolving around my tween fantasy series. For that you can check out clfreire.blogspot.com. I look forward to meeting tons of writers here. I love talking to writers. They're all so passionate about their art that one would be mad not to be taken aback in the presence of such dedication and creativity.
