I was once told to write well you need to write about what you know, but I believe that it is not enough to just write about what you know but to write from the heart as well. Allow the pen to be your guide, as it fills the pages with words that don’t just tell a story but takes the reader along for the journey. Reaching out and pulling them in, mesmerizing them, with the vivid colors of the scenery that surrounds them, insulting their senses with the stench of stale cigarettes, and stagnant, humid air that clings to their skin, have them relish the coolness of the dew-laden grass beneath their feet. Show them the beauty that lies within each of the characters as you bring them to life, and make your readers fall in love with them, flaws, and all. Never be afraid to base your story on events and people in your life, draw from what you know.
As a child, she had the unique privilege of growing up listening to stories that had been passed down from generation to generation. The tales that fascinated her most were those of the supernatural experiences, told her by those that had grown up in the midst of the unknown and the unexplainable.
