About Me

Writing is not a hobby or career, but a way of life and way of looking at things.

I've been writing seriously since I was 9 years old when I wrote, produced and starred in a play called "The Mugging of Molly's Muffins." Since then I have written in nearly every genre and have accumulated a huge body of unpublished works.

I have; however, published a collection of Short Stories through iuniverse.com called "Radiant Darkness" in 2000. In 2001 I published a collection of poetry called "Journey Without A Map." I have also published two academic papers, "Zen and the Art of Shaw" in the Shavian in 2000 and "The Literary Love Triangle" about Anais Nin in The Cafe in Space in 2010. I have had a few odds and ends poems published in journals, but I am waiting for my big break through.

On a more personal note I grew up in Shelby, Ohio, which is in the middle of nowhere. I wrote freelance articles for my local newspaper at 14. I have suffered depression and bounced back. I've lived the wild life and decided it wasn't for me. I have a beautiful daughter who is 8 and an adorable son who is 4.

I graduated from the Ohio State University at Mansfield in 1999. Then I went to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and graduated with my MA in English in 2002. I've traveled across the southwest and all the way to Peru. I hope to make it all 50 states eventually, Europe and New Zealand.

Climb 'Til Your Dream Comes True

Often your tasks will be many,
And more than you think you can do.
Often the road will be rugged
And the hills insurmountable, too.

But always remember, the hills ahead
Are never as steep as they seem,
And with Faith in your heart start upward
And climb 'Til you reach your dream.

For nothing in life that is worthy
Is never too hard to achieve
If you have the courage to try it
And you have the Faith to believe.

For Faith is a force that is greater
Than knowledge or power or skill
And many defeats turn to triumph
If you trust in God's wisdom and will.

For Faith is a mover of mountains.
There's nothing that God cannot do,
So start out today with Faith in your heart
And Climb 'Til Your Dream Comes True!

~ Helen Steiner Rice (1900 - 1981)
