About MeAustralian charactor actor , writer -aged 64 (ex-beatnik)
Have 136,000 word memoir looking for a publisher ( but i hate fiddling with my printer to get the book in SOLID form) Age: 65 ----------- see me on YOUTUBE under the username of BEATNIKCASS Influences: bums and nut cases , beatniks, hippies, dope fiends of the 60s, zen nuns , petty criminals and other enlightened beings. . Women who have put up with me. Kerouac and the Marx Brothers. Tibetan and Zen Buddhism. Similar To: the little skinny guy on Benny Hill Show..Sir Les Patterson, Billy Connolly, Rico Rizzo and Lenny Bruce I may have been autistic as a kid. I don't recall having feelings until I was 7 yrs old and saw Leonie Harper in my grade 2 classroom. As a child I was ( contentedly)left in the warm dark security of the local movie theatre every time my parents needed a baby sitter.(about 3 times a week) Thus I grew up seeing every USA and UK movie of the 50s:, they gave me my values. So I thought "the hero gets the girl if he's brave enough." Chaplin and the Marx Brothers taught me: "you don't need money to have fun". By 1960, I'd evolved into a 16-year old juvenile delinquent idiot In reform school I stabbed a tough guy, but only in the wrist. When i got out I split my middle class Adelaide home (taking only insane optimism) to seek Love, preferrably in the form of a beatnik chick . After reading the "Dharma Bums" by Jack Kerouac, I became fascinated by Zen Buddhism and became a wandering bodhisattva. But then , having swapped petty crime for idealism, the cops kept arresting me for Vagrancy . The next 15 years were spent with nut cases, vagrants, winos, hippies, holy saints, prostitutes, dope fiends, petty criminals In 1965 after 5 (hilarious) jail terms for Vagrancy, I finally found the beatnik/ hippie subculture ( back then it was known as THE SYDNEY PUSH) and lived happily ever after. Later I met a honey of a chick who led me into LSD and stimulants for 5 years.Of course, like everyone else who dabbles, i ended up with a small heroin habit. I was lucky: in the 70s, there were great co-ed rehab joints. I grudgingly gave up dope when I became a dad to a fine son. Attempting to become "a regular father type guy" I tried 147 different jobs until finding a good one, (as a Safety Inspector in the Navy stores dept.). I forged the qualifications, was given my own office and responsibility for the safety of 800 staff --wow, were they lucky!) In the '80s, the defence dept.was full of bullshit artists and I learned plenty. Luckilly,at the age of 46 I heard about auditions for the stage play "12 ANGRY MEN." I could act angry and I was a man-- so I figured if there were 12 of them, I had a chance. I spent the next 10 years doing theatre, mainly Shakespeare until I got the confidence to get an agent and try movies. --- My agent in Sydney, Australia is JOOLEE EADIE. She's in most internet acting agency guides.Phone her on 02-9386-0523. in 2008 i'm gonna donate my chick a kidney so i had to give up smoking d****t--- -Getting cast in movies and TV with only one good eye takes great dedication , but as long as the part is a wino , nice old man or a nutcase , I'm great. Favourite movies: 'Midnight Cowboy" "Runaway Train", "Wild At Heart", all Marx Brothers films. ""The Pope of Greenwich Village" ""On The Nickel", "Thunder Road" ",Emperor of the North Pole" ""Groundhog Day" "Waterworld", "Modern Times", "City Lights", and matinee serials of the 50s City: Central Coast NSW .Australia Hometown: ADELAIDE in South.Australia. Country: Australia An old pal of mine "dissappeared mysteriously" in the eighties and I'd love to know what happened to him---- he's Lorenzo (or Laurie) Spezzano and would be about 63 by now. I've tried his family but they know nothing either. -----he was handsome and funny and confident so some gal must have run into him somewhere.-------------Last seen in Adelaide South Australia Comments
