About Me
I am a writer of poetry, novels, and novellas. I write for children/young readers/teen, also fiction and poetry for adults. I co-edit a local kids magazine called Whimsy (www.writewhimsy.com). I am a work-at-home person due to having fibromyalgia, so I sell Avon, tutor, and babysit.
My biggest inspirations are life, love, art, music, family, friends, nature, animals and history. I love all things Victorian/Gothic, Pre-Raphaelite, and romantic. Some of my favorite novelists are: Fyodor Dostoevsky, Oscar Wilde, Thomas Hardy, Wilkie Collins, Evelyn Waugh, George Eliot, Georg Sand, Jane Austen, The Brontes, Nick Hornby, Mil Millington, Joanne Harris, Josephine Cox, Phil Rickman, Neil Gaiman, Jack Gantos, Malachy Doyle, Dick King-Smith.
Some of my favorite poets are: Christina Rossetti, Wilfred Owen, Pablo Neruda, Byron, Auden, St Vincent Millay, Langston Hughes.
I am very inspired by art of all periods and a good 60% of my writing is ekphrastic. Some of the artists that most inspire me are: James Tissot, Dante Gabriel Rossetti and the Pre-Raph's, Leighton, Alma-Tadema, Parrish, Fern Isabel Coppedge, Childe Hassam, Benson, Sargent, Manet, Morisot, Renoir, to name a few. I also love fantasy art and fairies, especially Jessica Galbreth, Mary Cicely Barker, AMy Brown, etc.
And I would like to dedicate my work on here to Richard, my "Isabella", my "Keats," my other half. Love you, R.
