About Me
I wrote my first poem when I was 15. I've been writing every day, more or less, since. I have not attempted to publish, based solely on the egotistical merits of never wanting to be tied to the 20th century. I am a writer of the 21st century, period end of statement. If that's where my first publishing credit falls, that's the way it is baby. I felt that way back in 1980. It's been a long wait.
They made gods out of those 20th century writers! Who wants to have their work compared (favorably or unfavorably) to gods? It's hardly fair. It's hardly conducive to honest writing, that kind of hubris. So, I just had to wait.
This egotism worked out in my favor, because I definitely needed some time to hone my craft, hahaha. My only goal has been to get better.
With that goal in mind, I have attempted a little bit of many genres and a lot of a couple.
Publishing now is my next logical step. I guess it's time to find out if all that hard work can find an audience.
I have a day job that I'm looking to ditch, software support. "Thank you for calling Software Support International. This is Dante. May I take your order?" It's not even that bad, really. I write answers to software problems all day long. It could be worse. But I have some ambitious projects that I want to undertake and that damn job is just getting in my way. Benefits, though, how do I get benefits?..
I spend the rest of my "free" time playing with my two sons, cross county running and writing. It's not a bad life. Actually, it's a little lonely sometimes but who's complaining? I've got my keyboard to keep me warm, ha.
