ARTIST: AGENT DOUBLE E - Rene Asteria
BIO
Rene Asteria (Agent Double E) is more then just a singer. A songstress, guitarist and activist, Renee's music is a union of the art and social work that define who she is. Born in New Jersey, Rene grew up in France with a Bolivian father and Dutch mother. Writing came naturally to Rene at a young age. Throughout her life, she used her gift of expression to write about things close to her heart, including her studies of Public Health & Environmental Sciences. With elements of Folk, Rock and Reggae combined with the sounds of Latin America, Rene expresses in her music a passion for social work, and an appreciation for the many cultures and people she has learned from as she studied and traveled the world.
In 2005 Rene self produced her first record, which was followed by a demo she worked on with (produced) Quinoa Groove (Andean Rock). In 2006, while doing social work in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Renee recorded her 2nd record "Faces of Agent Double E" ("Caras de Agente Doble E"). The bi-lingual record was produced by Rene and Matias Martyn and features stellar performances from players from Tibetan Monkey, Sinsemilla and Tony Fluye.
Rene's voice is smooth with a graceful range - imagine Amy Winehouse, Portishead & Sade. Her quirky lyrics are straightforward and weave stories that are uncomplicated yet amusing and heartfelt all the same . The music and melodies are addictive: infused with Latin spice, reggae beats and a tropical flavor that brings the sun and sounds of Latin America right to you.
"Faces of Agent Double E" was released and aired live in Buenos Aires, Argentina on 95.5 Rock&Pop FM and Open Air Radio. It was released in New York City on June 9th with a special show at Mopitkins.
Rene is a member of the Andean folk-rock band, Quinoa Groove. She has also performed with: Spiritual Reggae Band, SoloSol, Weadem and Pacific Vibrations.
