Zoe Jay

I come from Fife, in Scotland, and I now live in Los Angeles and run a business in the music industry. I've been writing poetry for about as long as I could write! I had a poetry collection published years ago, and a few individual poems in journals since then. I've finished up a collection of poems entitled "Odes to Modern Life", and am starting on some new work, "The I Poems" :)


I try to be a good person,
But I'm not really sure what "good" is.

I think I have morals,
But I can't really tell you what they are.

I'm the quietest loud mouth,
And the loudest shy person you will ever meet.

I'm the most opinionated person to be found
Sitting on the fence.

I'm sensitive,like rocks are sensitive to the weather.
Only when you watch for long enough.

I believe in God.
But I don't believe in your religion.

I probably hate you.
But I'll still pick you up if you fall.

I'm clever enough to know
That I'm just not smart enough.

I'm competitive,
But I'm humiliated to lose and embarrassed to win.

I'd fight for justice.
If I could find it.

I'm the most inside outsider...
I'm the uncoolest person at the coolest parties.

If you try to fight me, I'll probably laugh,
But if you laugh at me, I'll probably fight you.

I lie to myself.
But I'm honest with the world.

I'm called sophisticated.
But I wear old jeans.

I run often, but I run slow.
I'm angry. But I love well.
