I spent my early family years -with parents and one sister - in various country towns in Australia. We had a huge family adventure in 1984: a 7-month tour of western Europe, UK and a little bit of USA. It was back to school after that: firstly for two years in a very rough all-boys school then we moved to the more suburban and comparatively genteel Adelaide Hills. My sister and I went to a very good local public/state-govt co-ed school right through to end of Year 12.

Going straight on to a Bachelor of Arts, I enjoyed two years at the University of Adelaide, gained a life-long love for the taste of real coffee, then moved home again. This time it was back east again, but not to a small/medium-sized town as before. With some of my family I settled in the national capital, Canberra. I finished my tertiary years with a postgraduate diploma in heritage management. Finishing that rated a trip overseas, so it was off to New Zealand for two great weeks.

Fast forward: I've been in a museum job, one of my original preferred careers, for more than 10 years now, and enjoy living in the Canberra area. It's well and truly time to put a lot more effort into developing my age-old hobby of creative writing.
