About Me
I write. It is as simple as that. Okay, well maybe not that simple. I write poetry. I've also been known to bang out the occasional short story as well as some erotic fiction.
By day, I'm a "non-traditional" student. That is someone's polite way of saying "old" though I am seriously not that old. I go to school full time and major in digital media and graphic illustration. I'm also an artist - which should be obvious based on my major. I work with all kinds of mediums though my mediums of choice at the moment are collage and pen and ink. By night, I'm a blogger, poet and gamer. I love World of Warcraft and play every chance I get.
I've been writing or doing some kind of artistic endeavor since I could hold a pencil. I would probably be much further along in either profession had it not been for my mother. She made up her mind that artists and writers cannot make a living at what they do. She was determined that I should choose something practical as a profession - you know, like typing. So I did the smart thing. I married very young and moved away from her. Two children and a Corporate career later, I am finally pursuing my twin passions. At long last I have given myself permission to do these things. I no longer consider them a hobby or a waste of time. Yippie!
Needless to say, I'm in my second childhood and having the time of my life. My friends don't know what to think. I write very long emails and share my poetry with them. They seem to like it. As for the art, I honestly never thought I could draw. I always envied people who could. When I went back to school, all that changed. I started taking my art seriously - and so did my professors. To this day there are some pieces that I cannot believe I drew.
I've always kept a journal. Sometimes I'd write in it. Sometimes not. Lately, I have been writing in it all the time. I also write essays and speeches as required for school. I love writing letters. I never send most of them, but I find the practice very therapeutic.
Well, there you have it. Please feel free to comment on my work. I am always eager to improve. I must warn you. I read everything, including poetry, but I had never had any formal training in poetic form or structure. I write what I feel and let the line breaks speak to me. It is as simple as that. :-)
