Writing
|
About MeI've always had a knack for writing, though most of it has been truly pathetic woe-is-me poetry that I don't write for anyone but me. However, over the last couple years I have considered taking my writing more seriously and writing something that I can share with other people and get feedback on.
As you may have guessed by my name, I live in Alaska. A small town in Southeast called Petersburg. It's a small enough town, on an island no less. I refer to it as "The Rock". My family moved here when I was 2 years old, I have lived in Alaska ever since. With the exception of a few months in Reno, Nevada and some summers in Fullerton, California visiting relatives. I first discovered my talent for writing in the seventh grade, when we were assigned homework in the form of a poem. The rest of the class submitted work simple enough, it was homework after all. The teacher took me aside after class and suggested I keep writing. So I have ever since. At first my writing was rather mellow, since I wasn't comfortable tapping into my emotions to begin with. After a while it all became raw emotion, and nothing else. I was that angry, creepy, kid in high school My writing scared a lot of people. Over the years, I have written less. Though what I have written was even more powerful, but misguided. Recently, I think within the last couple years, I have written more. I have always wanted to write a book, the subject of which changes every now and then. First it was a book of poems, which I decided against considering the reactions I had to what I had written before. Then it was Historical Nonfiction, History being my second favorite subject in school after English/Creative Writing. Today, I'm not sure what it will be. I am still determined to write it. It will most likely be something of an eBook, either way. I am not nearly ambitious enough to attempt print and mass publication. I have decided, for now, to simply write more and share it with people. To gauge where I am at and what I can offer as a writer. |
