Ferox is a name I gave myself when I first started gaming online. At the time all of my friends already had names that they used for everything. I didn’t want to be left out, but I didn’t want to pick something generic either. So, one night I’m staying over at my best friends house and I decide I’m not going to sleep till I find a name. 5 hours of research later and I’ve narrowed it down to a few different names. This one Latin word was just calling out to me though.

Ferox is a Latin word meaning “fierce.”

Now some of the other definitions I found were arrogant, warlike, and courageous. I’ve been happy with the name since and have had many iterations of it throughout my gaming career. The one drawback has been the pronunciation. No one can pronounce this correctly it seems, or maybe I just don’t know how to pronounce it correctly. Point is, the way I like to have it pronounced is by combining the words “fear” and “rocks.” Just a heads up if you guys were already wondering how to say it.

You probably also want to know a little bit about me so I’m just going to be as brief and thorough as possible. I’m a gamer first and foremost. Gaming permeates into every part of my life. I’ve been gaming since I was old enough to hold a controller so it’s no surprise that I’ve made it my career too. My second love is film. My first ever job was at a movie theater where I worked for four years. I learned a lot about film there and in those four years my love of the industry as a whole really blossomed. I watched almost every movie that came out for the majority of my stay, even forcing myself outside of my comfort zone into genres I don’t normally care for. It was definitely a turning point in my life. Even now almost a year after leaving movies are still a huge part of my daily life and a huge influence on my writing.
