About MeHaving first managed to drop out of an art school, I graduated from University with an English degree. Please, don't take that to mean I know what I'm doing. Prose is my first port of call, but I sporadically weigh anchor in verses of profound nonsense.
Things likely to turn me off a story: - first person present tense - daft 'fantasy' character names, (apostrophes, double-barrels, spelling with a 'y' instead of an 'i.') - exposition-wedging - deliberately dressed-up language (eg., 'occuli' instead of eyes? Please!) - people who write 'addicting' when they mean 'addictive.' - people who write 'likely' when they mean 'probably.' - the opening line '[blank] is [blank] the first time [s/he] [blanks].' - the opening line 'the first time [blank] [blanks], [s/he] is [blank]' - referring to a character by a title rather than a pronoun (eg. the man, the brunette, etc.). [more of these as they occur to me ^_^'] Favourite Poet: [at the mo] Ted Hughes. Favourite Writer/s: Pterry, Neil Gaiman, Rowling. Recently discovered: Daniel Woodrell, Gene Wolfe. Comments
