About Me
Hello!
My name is Priscilla and I live in California. I am seventeen years old and I really love writing.
Strangely enough, I didn't discover my love of writing as early as most writers- I was fourteen when I first picked up a pen with the intention of really writing a complete story. Before that, all I wrote were small stories about cartoon characters, just because I was sad to see a movie or series end. My first love was drawing, and my art skills have improved significantly since I was kid. Then, when I was fourteen, I decided to "write a novel" and discovered that it was not as easy as I had thought it would be ( I had been under the impression that all one needed was a word processor, a brain and some time to finish a book- all true except for the annoying fact that one also needs skills!). In fact, I actually wrote 60 pages of my story before I realized that what I had written was CRAP. Boy was I disillusioned. I returned to drawing and put my abandoned project where it belonged - in the closet. Meanwhile, I attempted to start a comic book series and raise my grades in high school. I also wrote for fun and discovered that I had some talent ( or so I was told). In my sophomore year, I flipped through my abandoned "book binder" and was reintroduced to the world of writing. This time I really wanted to finish my book. Then Stephanie Meyer's Twilight book came out and I was pushed to the point of jealousy- I love the books, but why can't I have the same fame?
So, after a lot of preparation, I've written a great plot outline for my book and done tons of research for my project. I have well rounded characters and an upgraded word processing program. My skills have improved and my English classes have supplied me with enough vocabulary cards to challenge a dictionary. Borders has become my new playground and the library my hunting territory- I've read the writing books and learned the grammar. I'm ready this time.
I have also started a literary magazine with a couple of friends ( I am reluctant to post the name yet because I have to register my MAGNIFICENT title- I'll post it up when that is done). It will be aimed towards younger people ( sorry Elders) and will carry a gothic sort of theme ( though most genres are welcome). Currently, my group is working on raising some money and setting up a website to start recieving some submissions. We will accept stories and photography and loads of artforms. I'm real excited to launch it. WE ARE GONNA BE BIGGER THAN TIME!!! ( Haha! J/K * still hoping*)
I would like to improve my skills and refine my style, which is why I want to join this site. I figure that there are tons of writers buzzing all over the place- I might learn something. :)
