About Me
Writing has been an interest of mine since I was a kid, but it's taken many years and a couple of wrong turns for me to realize that it's what I want to pursue as a career. A useless associate's degree in a medical-related field told me that the clinical world was not for me. A bachelor's in English with a minor in technical writing got me a little closer to it, but then reality set in with a subsequent job hunt that failed to yield the technical writing job I had hoped for. I had a vague plan to write something at some point, but a truly hellish first job beat me down to the point of not caring anymore. A temp job in fall 2010 kept me busy and my boss even encouraged my aspirations, yet I continued to be lazy about actually putting pen to paper.
I am currently looking for a job--again--but I won't get into that here. It's been a very long time since I've tried to write anything creative, but I figure being here will give me even more incentive to get busy and take advantage of having time to write. I pride myself on being somewhat unconventional at times (and other times I follow the rules so much that I bore myself), so rather than start out with some short stories, I am in the process of doing research for a novel! Who says you have to start out small? That's not to say I won't write short stories in the meantime; on the contrary, I have several ideas that would make great short stories. It's just that my favorite idea needs to be done as a novel.
And I thought I had nothing to say about myself. Wow. So, if you're still with me and there's anything else you'd like to know, feel free to ask!
