About Me

I've been writing since I was about seven, though I didn't really get serious about it until several teachers in high school encouraged me to develop my skills.

I began writing my first novel, "The Goldenlea," back in 2003 and made a promise to myself that I would finish and publish that novel no matter how long it took. The dream came true in 2013, but by then I had already written two more novels and published one.

My first published work, "Basecraft Cirrostratus" (2010) was nominated for an Ursa Major award for anthropomorphic fiction and a Rainbow award for LGBT fiction.

My latest book, "Escape from St. Arned," is a sequel to "Basecraft Cirrostratus" and forms the third volume of a larger metanovel that will include "The Goldenlea" and its upcoming sequel, "The Linen Butterfly" due in January.

The metanovel, which I call "The Occidentania Cycle," transitions from medieval-inspired fantasy and will end with a Philip K. Dick-inspired Science Fiction story called "The Vimana Incident," due for release next year.

I have one unpublished novel, called "One Could Do Better," that is a biographical fiction piece with human characters though the majority of my work features anthropomorphic animal characters.

It is my hope to eventually become one of the precious few queer voices in SFF. My books usually feature LGBT characters and deal honestly and compassionately with issues like polyamory, asexuality, and the consequences of prejudice against the LGBT community while not relying on the usual tropes associated with "queer fiction."

I live in the suburbs of Portland, OR with my fiance and our two cats.
