Friends
When we were growing up, they were the people who we spend time with, and they didn’t care what name brand clothes we wore. When we were growing up, they didn’t care what race, sex, how much money our parents made and whether we had a father in the home or not. When we were growing up, they didn’t care if we had different beliefs, spoke different or have different lifestyles and cultures. When we were growing up, we could make fools of ourselves and laugh at each other and still be at peace with one another. They helped us to stand up to bullies. When we were growing up, they were there throughout our problems, doing whatever they could do to help us even if it was just silently spending time with us. They were the people we shared our dreams, Christmas, Thanksgiving, little league victories and failures with. They were the people who were there when we had our first kiss, date, girlfriend, boyfriend and to say goodbye to us when we had to move away. They know more about us than our parents do. Some people, generations, cultures call them road dogs, homies, crews and friends. The friends we had while we were growing up was our greatest treasure. As we became adults, we have made new friends, but no one will replace those childhood friendships.
