About Me

"The writer writes in order to teach himself, to understand himself, to satisfy himself; the publishing of his ideas, though it brings gratification, is a curious anticlimax." ~ Alfred Kazin

"Good poets have an uncompromising allegiance to their perceptions of the truth of the world" Russell Keeney

I am a writer in search of truth. I hope to tell it to the world someday. As an author, I love constructive criticism. Anything that can help me grow as a writer and as a person is highly welcomed. I would be happy to return the favor!

To tell you a bit about myself, for those of you who do not know me, I'm a 19 year old, wide eyed idealist. I just embarked on one of life's supposedly "big moments" and am now living in the slightly bigger bubble of college. Where exactly the "real world" is, I'm not sure. But I know it isn't in a place where I get a meal plan and have the showers cleaned for me every Thursday.

I enjoy reading, writing, macaroni and cheese, painting my fingernails and acting like an 8 year old. I love being impossibly loud and occasionally, bugging people by caring "too much" about politics.

Play nice, kids.

A Friend
(Carol Elaine Faivre-Scott)

Each of us has a hidden place
Somewhere deep within ourselves;
A place where we go to get away,
To think things through,
To be alone, to be ourselves.

This unique place, where we confront our deepest feelings,
Becomes a storehouse of all our hopes,
All our needs, all our dreams,
And even our unspoken fears.
It encompasses the essence of who we are and what we want to be.

But now and then, whether by chance or design,
Someone discovers a way into that place we thought was ours alone.
And we allow that person to see, to feel and to share
All the reason, all the uncertainty
And all the emotion we've stored up there.

That person adds new perspective to our hidden realm,
Then quietly settles down in his own corner of our special place,
Where a bit of himself will stay forever.
And we call that person a friend.
