About MeRicky Nations enjoys writing fiction about the wide spectrum of people that surround him in his home state of Mississippi. Nations is quoted as saying, “There are a bunch of good folks here, and there are also some terrible ones. They all need their story told. I try to document the absurdity of some as well as the elegance of others.”
Nations was first inspired by his 9th-grade English Teacher, Ms. Graham, and by the life story and writings of Larry Brown. Nations reads a lot of Southern literature, especially Mississippi writers. He enjoys mostly fiction. Some of his favorites are Larry Brown, Greg Iles, Michael Farris Smith, Robin Yocum, Ron Rash, and Charles Bukowski. ] He generally enjoys stories that are based in a fairly contemporary setting and about regular people. Nations likes to write about that which he considers "real". |
