About Me “Closed mouths don’t get fed”; and I starved my first two years of high school. Timid and soft-spoken, I was always the quiet child in class whose opinions and ideas didn’t matter because I never spoke up. My “old fashioned” grandparents raised me in place of my deceased parents and they spoiled me with everything I needed and wanted, so I was never taught to speak up for anything. Since an early age I’ve always wanted to be an artist: I’m passionate about art and always open to new art forms. My junior year I discovered the art of poetry and it became another one of my passions. I was able to express myself and with the help of Mrs. Chambers, the school’s new librarian (also my poetry coach) I learned to speak up; through poetry I found a voice.
I’m very creative and I produce artwork in different forms, so becoming a graphic designer seems like an ideal career to me. Anime and Manga have had the greatest influence on my artwork. Consequently, my fascination with Anime and Manga was the reason I began drawing as my first form of art, and then drawing lead to painting. What makes my artwork unique is my academic strength in English and writing along with my cleverness; I read many forms of literature and mythology which I use as influence/ inspiration in conjunction with modern themes. Growing up, my grandparents sheltered me from the social ills of the world. And when I started high school I was appalled by the different life-styles others were living. Irealized life was no longer a fairytale and everyone didn’t live equal lives. I have a voice now and it is my goal to use my art to enlighten with my innovative ideas that could help the world. |
