Poetry has had an impact on my life since reading it in the seventh grade. The book was ' You And I' by Leonard Nimoy. Years later I really got into it. My favorite poet is Rod McKuen although I read many others. In 1997 I had written to Rod: not expecting a response knowing he was a busy man, much to my surprise Rod sent me a handwritten postcard from France where he was spending the summer. Now that Rod is no longer with us, my postcard is more treasured now. Poetry is a form of escape for me.
