About Me

My name is Michael Carr. I'm 20 years old now, god help me, attending UTD on a full ride scholarship in the Biology pre-Med program.

IF YOU ARE READING THROUGH MY WORK FOR THE FIRST TIME, PLEASE HEED THESE WORDS:

Do NOT read my poetry first, as much as you may be attracted to it, it will not make you become a fan of my work, it's good, yes (not trying to be arrogant lol) but read a story if you can. I am a story writer, clear and simple, I write poetry now and then, but at heart I am a story writer.

My name is Michael Carr. I'm 20 years old now, god help me, attending UTD on a full ride scholarship in the Biology pre-Med program.

I've been writing for since I was diagnosed with Juvenille diabetes at age 12. I may be young but I've published in ABCtales Magazine and the Beta Club Magazine of Prosper. I love to meet new people, hope for feedback on my work. I live in Plano, Tx with me Ma and my eleven year old mini daschund Spike. I've written dozens of stories, a novel, and several scripts.

II was born 1991, in Plano Texas on 11:11 am. My mom's raised me all my life, I never met my father, who left before I was born. But I don't miss him, I know that when he left, he lost out on one of the greatest things in his life, me.

I write all kinds of stories, not much poetry, a few scipts, just finished a novel which I just had an agent request more pages from so here's hoping. I look forward to meeting new friends, so just send me a request if you feel like it, I'll hollar back. :)

TEN BEST PIECES (in my humble opinion lol. no order)

1. The Yellow Sheets
2. Go To Hell
3. The Chronicles of Bob
4. An Adequate Man
5. Fairer Side of the Sunset
6. Dirt: A Tale of Revenge
7. Charlie
8. Hit the Black
9. My Father Was Buried
10. Animal (MY NOVEL)

"Michael Jordon plays ball, Charlie Manson kills people, I talk."
"I'll tell you when I regain consciousness."

Bitter, but Hilarious.

Great Quotes:

"I have no armor. You've stripped it from me. Whatever is left of me. Whatever I am. I'm yours." - Casino Royale

"People pray for miracles but they never seem to realize that every breath we take, every heart we give, every life we touch, is the miracle that the whole world has been waiting for." - Riding on the Bus (Michael Carr)

"If he was not the word of God, God never spoke." -The Road (Cormac McCarthy)

"When your dreams are of some world that never was or of some world that never will be and you are happy again then you will have given up." -The Road

"She said that the breath of God was his breath though it pass from man to man through all of time." -The Road

"In that cold corridor they had reached the point of no return which was measured from the first solely by the light they carried with them." -The Road

Gone Baby Gone Opening Scene- One of the best monologues in film history.

No Country for Old Men Ending-
Many disliked it for the abruptness, but listen to the words. It's a brilliant ending

What does a scanner see?
Into the head?
Deep down, into the heart?
Does it see into me, into us?
Clearly or Darkly?

I hope the scanner sees clearly,
because I can no longer see into myself.
I see only murk.

I hope for everyone's sake the scanners do better.
For if a scanner sees only darkly,
the way I do,
then I'm cursed and cursed again.

And we'll only wind up dead this way
knowing only a little
and getting that little fragment
wrong too.

Well, being in a mood isn't a negative thing necessarily - like you said, somber is a mood. :) I must go back in and read more of your stuff.

Well, hello, Michael...nice to see you are still writing, as a man now. And very glad to hear your doxie is still kicking it. :D Congrats on the scholarship...nicely done, young man!

I'm sure you have a ton of new stuff I need to catch up on. Time spent away means Michael Carr has published even more! ;) Busy, busy, busy I see as I don't even recognize one among what you deem to be your top ten.

Take care and I hope to be back soon to read more...

great to hear that you are taking things to the next level.

I am working on a few things, probably turning the original Devil in the Details story into a trilogy- Im not sure if you were all the way through that. but I did finish the first one, second is going pretty good.

I am pretty sure there is a market for some actual real stuff out there, whether it is your concept art or my blasphemous smut, not everything is sparkling vampires.

Of course, I would love to talk you into my litterbox again, but most of my stuff is novel length. I would be grateful to have you read it, but understand that it is quite a commitment to make to something that is so damn wrong on many levels. but then again, i can see it in a 'sin-city' sort of film someday...would always need someone in the film field. I suppose that would be a bit too far down the pipe dream, no?

Hey, I just posted a new short story and am asking if you could critique it if you ever find some spare time. It's more "horror genre" then anything I've ever written, and figure you'd have a real keen eye for giving a solid once-over on it.
If you get around to it, thanks a ton.

Sorry got ahead a little .. you have your plate full.
Best of luck and I am sure you will pass the test.
From reading Yellow Sheets I feel compassion - and a doctor in my opinion should be able to feel compassion -
Yes, love the story my pleasure.

I see that you are attending Med School so yes, that is time consuming. You did a wonderful job with your story , "Yellow Sheets"- I will come back and read more later.
Good luck in life and all your dreams and hopes, may they be fulfilled.
