Writing

About MeMy name is Mike and I am a 44 year freelance art handler at an auction house that I choose not to name for reasons which are entirely my own. I am married to a wonderful woman named Sue. We are both writers, but she is a professional, while I am a rank amateur.
I took up writing about 6 or 7 years ago when I found that I liked writing down my thoughts and feelings, and have been blogging for about that long on a number of platforms on a variety of subjects. I've probably written upwards of a million words by now, well over 2000 posts, and over thirteen hundred of those at my wordpress blog, and have written for examiner.com (but then again, who hasn't), and election-coverage.com daily for 6 months during and just after the 2008 election cycle. Some of those works can be found at archive.org. I love writing about sports, politics, business, economics, and I have taken a particular interest lately in writing short stories, and am here to learn as much as I can about the craft. I would someday like to write for a living. My favorite authors are Douglas Adams, Robert A. Heinlein, Isaac Asimov, Gore Vidal (political work, not his fiction, that I have not read), Ernest Hemingway, Mark Twain and Norman Mailer. And I have taken a recent interest in the writings of Cory Doctorow and David Foster Wallace. Still trying to figure out which groups I want to join, so If you like my writing, and think you'd like to see me in your group, by all means, drop me a line and let me know. Have a nice day. M.E.
