About Me

A Life for Living - Micah McQueary

2009: Well, kind of back. I write more poetry now. Hope you like it!

Check out my music at www.myspace.com/merancape.

Hey, I bet you guys are wondering, "Where the hell is this guy? What's so special about him that he thinks he can get reviews from me and he doesn't even review MY STUFF?!" Well, complain no more. See, I'm usually not here when it's 1.) the weekend, 2.) vacation, 3.) a serious issue, or 4.) Armageddon, which is separated from "serious issue" because, frankly, it will probably be a good thing, and therefore nothing too serious in the universal aspect. Thus, I am gone often. To add salt to the wound, this so happens to be Spring Break as I write this, so not only am I breaking my own law, but my spaghetti noodles are boiling to death, I have a salami and southwestern mustard sandwich on the line, and I'm leaving... Feel free to read the rest of my retarded Bio...

NOTE: Written in 2006

Born in 1988 ("The good ol' days," I like to call them), I began my writing career at age three. I picked up a pencil and wrote two pages of a story. To my dismay, however, I could not read. I gave it to someone else to read to me. Needless to say, they could not read it as much as I could - for different reasons, of course.

Now I'm 18, and embarrassingly unpublished. No, no, I'm not saying I SHOULD, as though those that I send them to should have SEEN my glory. In fact, to the contrary, I have no glory. A river flows behind my ears, you could say, and I try as hard as I can.
I wrote my first story when I was around eight or nine. It was a horror story, around ten pages long, based on the same style as the books I fondly remember as "Goosebumps". Keep in mind that not only did I not know what to do with my stories, but assuming I did I would not have done anything anyway.
A year later, at age ten, I moved to NH from my hometown of Somerset, KY. I lost good friends, but gained many as well. Unfortunately, my education was not very well, and so I began to teach myself the basics of english with incessant reading. (I also began teaching myself to play the piano, and if I may say so myself, I'm pretty proffesional with it in the sense that I never learned how to read music - playing by ear - nor how to finger correctly.)
At 11, I wrote a mythical fantasy based on a "King Arthur" story called "Wizards and Warlocks" which, not surprisingly, died at page thirty. I still look at it, though, and find many interesting ideas today.
At around 12 I began a fantasy/sci-fi novel called "Otherworld" about time travelling. This was my first attempt at publishing, and it got all the way to page 101 before I wanted someone to look at it. Expecting a rave review, I found my large story, instead, to be full of grammar issues and plot conflicts the likes of which a sane human would never be able to read past. It was my first big failure, and the biggest step to gaining an ability to write.
At 13 I began a book called "Durantem: A Tale of Endurance". I worked my hardest to get it right this time. At 14 I established an internship with a local author named John Morressy (my greatest friend, he died this year of a heart attack). He helped me with my book, editing it, giving me pointers, slapping me with rules, and leading me to read "Strunk & White's Elements of Style". I have nothing but great memories of working with the lad, joking, laughing, reminiscing.
We worked on that book greatly for three years. A year after he let me out from under his wing, I moved back to KY. They say you can never go home again, and I agree. To this day, I can never help but feel lost and hopelessly alone.
After I recieved my GED and applied for college this year, I asked John Morressy for a letter of recommendation for my college. He heartily agreed, and I sent him the form. John had a heart attack a day before the letter reached him.
When I write today, I think I'm keeping up with my great friend. I still work by his standards, trying to make him proud.
I live in a family of four other siblings. One is a singer, one is a writer, one is an actor, and one... I don't know what. I intend on being a musician, an actor, and, above all, a writer - but I'm not really aware if there's anything else.
Today, I'm on page 300+ on "Durantem: A Tale of Endurance". I hope I may get my due credit at this site. If I cannot, I must go elsewhere. I continue to write aside from the book, recently sending in a sci-fi Novella called "Smuggler's Run" to the L. Ron Hubbards Writer's of the Future contest, and I am writing yet another sci-fi novella.

My God... That was a long Biography. In the event that I do not stay at this site for long, I think I'll take this with me.

thanks for the awesome review. it gave me the warm fuzzies. and the word is omniscient (could be misspelled). I plan on revising a lot, if not all, of the Alexandria Rose, so I might pull it, rewrite it and then repost. I'll let you know. Thanks!

I thought the commercial was funny- something about soda, clumsiness and epileptic-like seizures piques my interest. :)
