About MeBorn at the Princess Beatrice Hospital (now closed) in London, I grew up in Peel (on the Isle of Man), Valdelagrana in Spain, and Fulham, Felixstowe and Maidenhead. As an adult, I’ve lived most of my life in London and Madison, Wisconsin.
That makes me both a town mouse and a country mouse, and as such I’ve found that I belong everywhere and nowhere at the same time. The places where I have been able to live with most conviction, though, are the ones inside my head. I’ve been living in them and writing about them for years. I’ve always been a bit reticent to put my own writing out for public consideration, but I finally decided to have a go. We live in an unprecedented time in which we can make our writing available to a global audience at virtually no cost. I’m fairly old-school in my genre reading – Michael Moorcock, HP Lovecraft, Philip K Dick, Stanislaw Lem – and the chances are that you’ll see those influences in my own stories. I hope also you’ll see the influence of other writers whose work I admire – W.G. Sebald, Iain Banks, and Hunter S Thompson – but who knows what will surface as I continue this journey. My other interests include boardgames – you’ll find me over on Boardgamegeek.com – cinema, and I’m a lifetime fairweather fan of Chelsea Football Club. |
