Sorry, just noticed your question in "Dearest Diary".

Although I hate dissecting poems; to me, the meaning of a poem resides in its reader...here goes.

There is a famous Arabic poem by a Tunisian poet(Aboul-Qacem Echebbi) the first verse reads:

If the people decided to live, destiny must respond.

That in and of itself is "Dearest Diary." Taking charge of my-life by means of reflecting past mistakes and confronting them, is that of the people confronting their cruel leader.

....Or it could literally be about my diary.

hope this answers your question.

You deduced correctly, so much of life is just that. Me too! I never thought or wanted to become a poet, it just sort of happend. But poets are nice people, a bit isolated sometimes, but they have emotive range and hence possibly even empathy.

To be completely honest, I did not expect "Notion of an Ideal" would win, Yet it did.

From reading the poems in the contest, I deduced that simplicity and originality are two key factors for a top ten position. I could have submitted "A Motif of War." Unfortunately, it lacks simplicity in execution and the (originality) factor.

I am not denying that a part from my rationale favoured beguilement over honesty...but, I will let you decide.

Cheers,

Ah you make a move to pull my heart-strings, well I guess I should have expected this (that you submit a poem you know I already love!)
