About Me

Yeah, so I work at UT Austin, and I'm just on here to make a few new friends, meet a few new people, a few writer-types.

I write short stories...though most are rather long to be called such...lately I've been thinking about writing for the stage, or rather the thought has (re-)surfaced, as for how long it ricocheted around my unconscious, no one can say....

So, I'm interested in just about anything intellectual (read: I have a very large library), and in addition to loving words, I love the theatre, dance (modern and ballet), and people who look for new and creative expressions of themselves and the world around them.

I am also the President and Acting Artistic Director of The Coda Project, a non-profit 501(c)(3) theatre company residing in Austin, Texas. We have been producing works with an emphasis on cross-disciplinary collaboration for the past 5 years. Authorsboth old and newwho we have produced, include: Eugne Ionesco, Wendy MacLeod, Alan Bennett, Jean Giraudoux, Edward Albee, and newcomer Randy Wyatt. In the future we hope to produce works by: Mikhail Bulgakov, Pierre de Marivaux, Max Frisch, Georg Bchner, Peter Barnes, relative newcomer Dustin Wills, and others.

A selection of quotes from my favorite author, Fernando Pessoa:

"To live is to be Other. It isn't possible to feel if one feels as one felt yesterday. To feel today what was felt yesterday isnt to feelto be todays living cadaver of what yesterday was lived and lost."

"Wise is the man who monotonizes his existence, for then each minor incident seems like a marvel. A hunter of lions feels no adventure past the third lion."

"The beauty of a nude body is only appreciated by peoples that use clothing. Chastity is important for sensuality like resistance for energy."

"To act is to rest."

"To know how to stand constantly between ourselves and external things is the highest degree of wisdom and prudence."

"Having seen how lucidly and logically certain madmen justify their lunatic ideas to themselves and to others, I can never again be sure of the lucidness of my lucidity"

I grew up in Austin before I came to college. It's an amazing place.

Hope you didn't lose too much in the wipeout. Best of luck filling the void if you did. Still love Response/Review!

This is terribly belated, but thank you for the review.

That's the portrayal I was shooting for; I'm glad I executed it correctly.

I'm really less fond of my prose poetry, but I may end up writing some more soon; I haven't really had the time to thoroughly invest myself in anything artistic for a while now.

Hope to hear from you again, and I'd love to pick up one of your pieces if you have any you're particularly in love with.

Thanks again.
