About Me

I don't really exhibit any of the traits as the character of my nom de plume, but I do adore her name, as well as Oscar Wilde. There was a time when he used to be the literary love of my life (homosexuality notwithstanding). I had read all of his stories and most of his poems, but it's been so long. I suppose I ought to change that.

I'm just another kid who listens to too much music at odd hours in the night, who never goes to sleep before 12 a.m. (and subsequently never arrives at a class more than five seconds early). Despite being a music major on paper, I have little to no direction in my life right now, save the day-to-day obligations that can't very well go unfulfilled.

I am often overwhelmed by how precious life is, how beautiful the world can be, and how easily time can slip away. These are some of the reasons why I'm very disconcerted with the thought of ever leaving Earth. I call myself a Christian, but a lot of the time that designation is ambiguous, and where most find the thought of life after death comforting, I only find puzzlement and panic. I'm much too young to be wasting time thinking about that sort of thing, but every now and then I can't help but think about it...In the end, all I can do is shrug my shoulders and mutter a resigned "Oh well" as I turn up the volume to whatever I'm listening to (it's usually Elliott Smith during times like these).

I'm a freshman in college and I'm absolutely in love with where I am right now, both the institution I attend and just where I am, generally, in life. Even when I'm having the shittiest day, I know I have friends I can look to for comfort, be they living breathing humans, or an open blog window on a computer screen, or a black ball-point pen and a notebook packed with pages upon pages of clean lined paper...

Oh yes, one more very important and absolutely irrelevant piece of information: I've discovered that I love to dance. Give me some space (maybe an outstretched arm span's circumferance), comfortable shoes, and an adequate stereo system blasting some Junior Boys or Ladytron or B-52's, and I'll go absolutely ape! I have no coordination whatsoever, but that just makes it all the more fun.
