About Me

I'm Katherine, Kat to friends. I come from the land of AllPoetry, in look for a change. I have two friends here that I met on AP, and they say they like it here...So, here I am.

I will say first off that I am NOT a professional writer. When it comes to my work, I don't believe in "constructive criticism"...Not the professional type, because this isn't my profession. This is just something I like to do, that I apparently have a talent for. I've written over 300 poems in the past year, most of them having positive feedback.
So if there any professional poets out there, you'll probably be unimpressed with my work...but do give it a chance, I think I can convey some powerful emotions through my words, when given the ammunition.

I've had a hard past and several hard knocks, and I used to write to get all those feelings out. And for a long time, that was enough...and then it wasn't, but I still wrote. Eventually, I gave up writing for a few months, but lately...I've begun to miss it a lot, so here I am, back on the wagon. Be gentle, it's taking awhile to get back into the swing of things.
I don't write nearly as much as I used to, as I'm also a musician, so I work on my music more often lately.

My writing style...is really whatever I'm feeling. I've experimented with things like Haiku and Triolet, but honestly, I just like to let my words flow right off the page...Even if the rhythm or rhyming isn't perfect. I love to overwhelm my readers with emotions, or imagery, or both...To me, the feelings, and the pictures, make the poem.

"A cloud does not know why it moves in just such a direction and at just such a speed. It feels an impulsion...this is the place to go now. But the sky knows the reasons and patterns behind all clouds, and you will know, too, when you lift yourself high enough to see beyond horizons."
