About MeI wrote for years before I had anything at all new to write about. Then by the age of ten or so I decided I would have to have adventures in life, so I could write about them, and I went back out to play.
For some reason I majored in English Lit. at college, thinking that was how a person became a writer... that major does help a person learn to read sometimes, but it wasn't until I took the creative writing and the journalism classes that I began to really work. Well, I had to work on papers for the Eng. Lit. too; but that was long ago and far away and done on automatic pilot, who seemed to be alert. Before, during and after college, adventures showed up. My life has included being very very poor, and very very rich, and very very middle-class. I didn't pay much attention to the money end of it, but a lot to the story potential. There were many steps taken between each story. I've published several short stories now, and once had a play I wrote produced, and worked as a journalist for years, long enough to call myself retired. I still write short stories, wanting to pare them down to 800 words tops. I've been working on a first book, a biography of the most remarkable (and unfortunately the oldest) woman I know at this time... though her age adds much to her wit. And there are many steps taken between each word. Comments
