Jesse Price

I never liked the idea of calling myself a poet. To me, it seems on par with calling myself a "man." It just sounds so wrapped up in its own importance. Men have golf scores, stock portfolios, mortgages, etc. I'll just call myself a "guy." I feel like if I become a "poet", I'll have to start doing poety things. I'll have to think up ways to make my name sound more prestigious (hmm, how about J. A. Price?). Or I'll have to start wearing scarves. I try not to take my writing too seriously. I'm not here to change the face of writing and galvanize the masses. If I'm going to be the world's puchline, then I'll be the first one to laugh.
