About Me"Party on and be excellent to each other"
Bill & Ted My very brief bio: I've been writing since the age of 15 and have had some success here and there, but mostly in recent years. And I am said to love writing so much that I have ink for blood. No ... no, no ... I am not a squid ... that would only give me the ability to write more and quickly. Arc, as a nom de plume, took four years of careful thought to finally decide that that is the name of 'me as the writer'; as opposed to 'me as the everyday person'. Sounds strange, until you consider that George Eliot was woman -- and there was even the writer who named himself after Japanese rice wine. Oh, by the way the photo: I'm the blond one. The other: Davo. A party animal I haven't seen in yonks. My favourite Poe quote is a reference made of him in an introduction of his short-stories I no longer possess (so I am unable to name the book sorry). Thus: "I become insane with terrible intervals of hoirrible sanity" These following inspirations for my writings are strange but true: My mum (for her awesome B-grade movie-style sense of humour), God (hey, smartarses, God has no religion ... read The Bible ... it doesn't matter which one), Edgar Allan Poe (mainly for the "Tell Tale Heart"), Kurt Von ... (I am not even going try the rest of his name but he wrote "the Breakfast of Champions"), my brother Davo (just for being Davo), you too Nick (it amazes me that you are not more widely known around the world -- especially given your style), irony (for being obvious), reality (for being eccentric), alcohol (particularly, Benedictine), my mates (for being smartarses), butterflies (the Scottish they are souls of the dead; also butterflies are attributed to change; and the Indians have that whole tornado in the other half of the world thing), Jeff MacCowen (an old drinking mate o'mine and fellow hellraiser, heh, heh), everyone who has ever published me, evryone who has ever rejected my writing (the drive to succeed not sought by me for fame but for art), HR Geiger (guess why), Picasso, DXMXGXD, The Epic Of Gilgamesh, Aldous Huxley, Nickolaus A Pacione, George Orwell, 2000AD comics (particularly Slaine), MAD Magazine, Angry Beavers, Aaaargh! It's The Mr Hell Show, The Family Guy, Brandy & Mr Whiskers, Dave The Barbarian, all my ex-girlfriends, Acid Bath, Napalm Death, humanity (for sticking it out), bad jokes, B-Grade movies (Bad Taste, Scream Play; for example), the guy who wrote an entire book without the letter "e" (I think the name is "Gatsby" but I'm not too sure) and those who created the words: c**t, p***y, f**k, s**t, dick, c**k, arse/a*s, rainbow (which is a strange one), butterfly (I've experimented and looks nowhere as pretty), doubt, action (it is the "ssh" sound), the word too hard to pronounce that means fear of long words, wherefore, perturbing, word, palindrome (because it isn't one), ambigrams (SWIMS, SOS), tintinnabulous, languorous, homophone (which isn't one), won't, can't, anargram (which isn't one), ain't (this one is a classic), cucumber, military intelligence, Catch 22, and .... I think I will stop here ... heh heh ... you know I'll be adding more >;) =] From the movie Equalibrium: "You always knew ... But I being poor have only my dreams, have spread them beneath your feet. Tread softly ... because you tread on my dreams" [the poem is actually from a work by Yeats which the movie shows] And this from the movie "V For Vendetta": "... an inch ... it is small and it is fragile, and it is the only the thing in the world worth having. We must never lose it or give it away -- we must never let them take it from us. I hope that whoever you are, you escape this place. I hope that the world turns and that things get better. But what I hope most of all is that you understand what I mean when I tell you that even though I do not know you and, that even though I may never meet you, laugh with you, cry with you ... or kiss you; I love you ... with all my heart, I love you."
