About Me
Greetings, all! My name is Gaines and I am a freelance writer based in a place so hot it might as well be Hell. I am the author of "Revenant: A Short Story Collection," recently published in September of this year, which features everything from traditional horror to darker, more erotic pieces. I've got an official website where you can read excerpts from my collection and other stories I've posted. My latest piece is entitled "The Copulation of the Flies" and is listed under the Short Stories section of my site. If you end up getting a copy of my book, I'd love to sign it for you. I adore my fans and always enjoy hearing from them.
My five greatest passions in life are: (1) my beautiful girlfriend, (2) literature -- I'm a lit junkie and read everything from classics to horror to bizarro, (3) music -- very eclectic taste!, (4) junk food, and (5) the macabre. I'm an expert on serial killers and I love hanging out in cemeteries (they're so beautiful, quiet, and full of history). They also inspire some of my stories! I'm a feminist, an atheist, a voracious reader, a graphomaniac, and have a sweet tooth that would shame Willy Wonka himself.
At this present time, I am working on a novel that I am sure will be extremely controversial (sorry, it's top secret!). Some of my favorite writers (I couldn't list all the writers I love here) are Todd Grimson, Poppy Z. Brite, William Browning Spencer, Chuck Palahaniuk, Edward Lee, John Steinbeck, Stephen King, Julie Anne Peters, L. Frank Baum, Lewis Carroll, etc. I'm a huge fan of all things Gothic and collect skulls, skeletons, and Grim Reaper statues. I've got a year-old son -- a Basset Hound named Tudor -- and a five-year old daughter, a black cat named Lily.
I hate television (with the exception of an occassional serial killer biography or cannibal documentary) and 99% of all movies (I feel that film and t.v. rob you of the sensuality of words and the enjoyment that results from rich descriptions. They also deprive you of your imagination -- for the most part -- and lack the usual omniscience of literature). I prefer reading to most activities...and no, I don't mean that in a pretentious sense; I simply love to read. I don't think I am better than anyone else for it.
I have a rich and colorful medical history. My injuries include: slipping on wet concrete and smacking my skull (resulting in a concussion), being hit in the head with a baseball bat (still have the scar), being dropped on my head several times as an infant (all accidents, I am sure), having my breathing stop to the point where I had to be hooked up to oxygen tanks, and, more recently, having my hand slammed in a car door.
I'm always up to corresponding with new people, so feel free to drop me a line. I've also got a myspace page(www.myspace.com/gainesgalloway). Well, folks, that's all for now. See ya around and I certainly hope you'll check out my work!
