Corey Atherley

Too make a long story short, my writing career began at the age of ten when I wrote my first play based on my fourth grade experience. Of course it was too amateur to publish, but just the overall experience of sitting up late at night, laying out my thoughts, fears and big imagination in a notebook was the beginning of a literary journey. From then on, writing became not only a passion, but my identification. Growing up in the inner city and the suburbs, it wasn't common for young black men to be writers or even know how to read. Unfortunately as I've gotten older, writing has become a love/hate struggle due to lack of time, commitment, creativity and the inability to put the hardships of life on hold in order to sit down and write. Recently, I graduated from a great creative writing college in Vermont which taught me to start living my life as a writer and to harness that talent that God blessed me with.
