About MeI hated both reading and writing when I was a kid. I had no patience and far too much energy to remain still long enough to get through a written story. But I've never lacked in imagination however, and even as a kid I could conjure whole stories in my mind seemingly at will.
It wasn't until I was thirteen and started growing into adolescence that reading became a valued part of my life. It was my brother who proposed I should read The Gunslinger, by Stephen King. King's writing style and storytelling shocked me, and I quickly consumed all of the remaining six books. I knew writing was something I wanted to do, so I got to work. Of course most of what I wrote back then was crap. Sure, I had my heart in the right place and the original ideas of the stories might have been good enough, but it takes time to learn the tools of trade. Now, eleven years later, I would like to believe I have gotten a bit along the way. I am often complimented for my writing, and more than one has told me a writing career is something I should focus on. It is what I have decided to do as well, but who knows how long that will take. In the meanwhile, maybe my fellow writers and aspiring writers on this page could help me along? Give your comments and your feedback, and I promise to do the same for you. And maybe, one day, all of us could end up with our dreams within reach for our grasping fingers. |
