About Me

I just enjoy writing. My writing method: I often feel the inspirational urge swell inside as I'm writing so I go with the flow, and a new poem is born.

I'm not an educated person (except high school) and I have not explored the formalities of poetry writing, although I have recently started learning certain forms of poetry in an online writing group I'm in. So, I can't even say what my own poetry "style" or "signature" is! How strange or sad is that?

Anyway, one thing I love doing is find poetry in everyday words, such as this email conversation I had with a friend once that I turned into a poem (with their permission):

"Snow is Great, But..."

Sittin and watching snow fall
is great, I do have to say
I love the way the leaves change
colors in the fall
and when the snow falls

But its the clean-up and cold
that isnt so fun

Monday was beautiful...
I went to the store to shop
for some lunch for the week.
I loved looking around
everything was white

but now its brown.
Damn sanders!

-----------------
This was their actual words in the conversation:

"Sitting and watching snow fall is great. I do have to say I love the fall when the leaves change colors and when snow falls.... but it's the clean-up and cold weather that isn't so fun.

Monday was beautiful. I went out to the store to finish my "weekly lunch" shopping and I loved looking around. Everything was white. NOW IT'S BROWN. DAM SANDERS!"

I just love doing that!

Well, my father was a playwrite whose pen name was Donn Hayden and in 1938 he wrote a play that was on the Rude Vallee Radio program. One of the parts was read by David Niven. A few years later, he quit writing but named me Donn Hayden after who he realy was. Sean is my son's name and Allen is my inspirational English teachers middle name. So, is this making sense yet?

"The Bells of Hope" story is posted as of last night, all ten parts together. If you read it, I'll owe you big time!

I have been posting a Christmas short story, the last of ten parts went up tonight. I am also trying to do some kind of musical Christmas card, and let me think... oh yes, I still have to do all my Christmas shopping.
