About Me
I'm an old hippie with 3 grown sons and 6 grandchildren with 1 more on the way. My career was always motherhood so I never experienced the business world other than to have several menial jobs here and there along the way.
I began writing stories and poems in my teens, always expressing my emotions through the pen. It was therapeutic. Creative writing classes taught me the importance of stretching my imagination along with the basics of good grammar, sentence and story structure and spelling.
I was 35 when I went to college and enjoyed writing for the college newspaper. Those are the only stories I've had published. That brings me to the present where I've learned that through the internet, just about anything is possible. Unhappy with the writer's site, Booksie, I stumbled upon this one, where I feel more like I've just walked into a room full of nice people I don't even know, but it's ok to just sit back and put my feet up.
I tend to read more short stories followed by poems, although I'm not crazy about prose. I'm not a fan of vampire-type stories but I like sci-fi. Obscene language is ok if it's used creatively, but I'm not a reader of erotica. Grammar and spelling is important. Every writing program has spell checker and some have grammar checker, so there is no excuse for getting it wrong. If you read my writing I will visit you. If I can't find anything positive to say about anything of yours I read, I won't comment.
I'm always open to constructive criticism, a necessary component to a writer's growth. Even Steven King, John Grisham and Dr. Seuss received critical reviews and I'm not nearly as talented as any of them.
So, let's get together, have a cuppa and read for awhile. And always write on.....
