The book that came to me in several episodic (and very persistant!) dreams is coming together. All the parts are there, I just have to fit them together smoothly and develop the characters. Although this story would make a kick-a*s movie, I'm not writing this one in screenplay format. I'm foregoing the superfluous editing, hoping that this endeavor will be a double whammy - published as a popular novel first, that will then be made into a movie! Lofty goals?? Yes! But as MichaelAngelo said (and I'm paraphrasing here): "The greater danger here is not that our goals are too high and we will not reach them; but that they are too low, and we will."
I'm brand new, just looking for a place to post my work, blog, connect with other talent. My long-term goal is to get some of my poetry published. I have been writing since I was a teen and have never had anything published yet (other than the obligatory random poem in a high school/college anthology). I have written 3 screenplays thus far - 2 of those projects had the air let out of them; as I was dating and then broke up with my co-authors (never mix creativity/business with pleasure-turned-emotional turmoil!). The 3rd screenplay project was co-written with an actual producer from Hollywood; but since this was a side project for him and not part of his actual production work, he is marketing it on his own time, through his personal contacts, and thus may take a while to come to any fruition - if it does at all. So I find myself without a serious writing project right now and thus creatively stunted. I'm open to ideas for new projects or collaborative work! Give me some catharsis! I need it!
