About Me[Me, Shrugging 8/2007] What can I say that would give you any insight as to who I am, really? Music and Creative Expression is my life. Uhmm, I'm an honest and intelligent woman who just needs a bit of good luck. Hah! Most of my writing experience is in the genres Lyrical, Prose, Poetry and Music Journalism. I've had my poetry published by: Iliad Press, Poetry.com and various creative writing zines. As far as my journalistic work, it can be seen in Florida's local newsgazine: OutLoud Multimedia [www.outloud.com] and also in South Florida's local music magazine RAG Magazine. For both of those publications, I have done freelance work as a Music Columnist, Staff Writer and Concert/CD Reviewer. I have enjoyed this immensely; as music is my first passion. I write what I see in great detail and I always check my facts thoroughly. I pride myself in accuracy at all times and I do my part in promoting good, unsigned acts whenever I can. I am currently working on my memoirs and a screenplay (possible movie) called "Nomads," also another called "Born For A Reason". I hope to lift them off of the ground someday soon. :) In my free time, I usually write vehement rants about either the music scene, certain philosophies [agree or disagree] or the often humorous fundamentals of psychology. I am an avid reader. I love to read HORROR (Poppy Z. Brite, Anne Rice), PROSE (Kerouac, Cohen, Bukowski, Ness), POETRY (Baudelaire, Poe, Wilde, Bronte, Plath), NOVEL (Sue Monk Kidd, Amy Tan, Judy Blume), PHILOSOPHY and PSYCHOLOGY (Seneca, Emmerson, Thoreau, Nietszche)... I even like some of the darker reads like Criminal Psychology, Serial Killers, Vampire Lore, World Religions, True Crime, Marquis De Sade and some Erotic Horror (nothing cheesy or trashy). I respect and admire the great writers Hunter S. Thomson and Lester Bangs... True visionaries. I love independent music zines like: Punk, Maximum Rock 'N Roll, Loud Fast Rules, Outburn and I'll even do a little Rolling Stone or Spin magazine, every once in a while. I also absorb film on a weekly basis... I might be a bit obsessed, actually. Haha I'm constantly browsing Tattoo Magazines and Plus Size Fashion (I the love creative expression in those magazines). I love Spoken word by: Jello Biofra, Mike Ness and Henry Rollins. ;) My music collection is almost as vast as my own lyrical writings. Basically, whatever you ask me- be careful, I do not lie. Ever. With me, what you see is what you get. Thank you so much for reading, I hope this helped. **smiles** Express Yourself and Be Well, Amy Lou Comments
